Attractions
The Fleming Park/Lake Jacomo area also features the following attractions:
Fishing
- Lake Jacomo offers a variety of species to fish for and many locations to fish from. The lake is stocked annually by MDC and brush piles are placed throughout the lake. Because there are horsepower limits on the lake, that also allows for less disruption to aquatic vegetation, fish activity and habitats.
- Anglers enjoy fishing for crappie, bass, walleye, bluegill, catfish and carp.
- There are three ADA accessible docks on the lake: one near the marina and north boat ramp, one by Liggett Dam, and one off Selvy Road in Liggett Cove, which also offers a fishing trail. There are also bank fishing locations available. One of the more popular fishing spots is off Beach Road at the south end of the lake by the 'old beach' which is also the site of the annual Kids' Fishing Derby in the spring.
- In addition to the three boat ramps around the lake providing easy access for boat owners, there are two additional launching areas for kayaks and canoes. Boat permits are required to use Jackson County waterways.
- A fish cleaning station is available at the marina (during it's operating hours) for our patrons' convenience.
- Longbow or crossbow fishing is permitted on Lake Jacomo, north of Colbern Road during statewide season. A Jackson County Parks and Recreation archery permit is required.
- Ice Fishing is prohibited.
