About the Lake
Just minutes from south Kansas City, Longview Lake offers 930 acres of water entertainment and 14 picturesque shelters. Get away with the whole family for an exciting day of power boating, water skiing, jet skiing or a relaxing pontoon boat ride. You can also get a tan and go for a swim at the beach.
Amenities
Located in Longview Lake Park, Longview Lake plays host site for many of Jackson County Parks + Rec's special events.
Marina
The full service marina offers many conveniences including boat rental, concessions, marine supplies, lakeside gasoline pumps, tackle, bait and overnight and annual slip rental. Our staff is happy to assist you with your marine needs.
Fishing
Fishing is a popular sport at Longview Lake. Your catch may include Bluegill, Carp, Channel Cat, Largemouth Bass, Walleye and Crappie. A delicious fish fry is almost guaranteed. Join us on Longview Lake, for all your water sports.
Permits
Boat permits and motor permits are required for all watercraft using our Jackson County lakes and waterways (Blue Springs Lake, Longview Lake, Lake Jacomo, and Prairie Lee Lake). Annual Permits may be purchased at the marina or at the Parks + Rec Administration Office. Single day permits may be purchased online. Visit our Permits page for more information

Water Sports
Important notes about Longview Lake water sports:
- Windsurfing is permitted Monday thru Thursday from sunrise to sunset, and is prohibited Friday thru Sunday and holidays. Operators must wear a Type I, II or III Personal Flotation Device as approved by U.S. Coast Guard.
- SUPs are allowed on Longview Lake, Blue Springs Lake and Prairie Lee Lake on Mondays - Thursdays only, and not on holidays. They are allowed on Lake Jacomo seven days a week. See the Parks FAQ for more information.

Swimming on Longview Lake is only allowed at the Longview Lake Beach during it's operating hours, or from your anchored boat, while wearing a life jacket. Because of safety concerns (including variable water depths and uneven terrain), swimming is not allowed from the shoreline or dock.

Zebra mussels were discovered in Longview Lake in 2024. Please make sure you drain live wells before and after using Longview Lake, and clean, drain and dry your boat and trailer before taking it to another lake.
